About Slocum Skewes

The Slocum Skewes School offers a comprehensive educational program to students in grades three through eight.  Slocum Skewes is also home to the Ridgefield Public Schools Learning Center.  Students participate in a rigorous academic program while developing character and social skills within a nurturing environment.  The Slocum Skewes family of educators is committed to providing a positive, challenging, and academically oriented learning environment for all students. Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Related Arts courses utilize the national Common Core State Standards, as well as the latest New Jersey State curriculum standards, to ensure that all students can meet the demands of high school, college, and career in the 21st century.  Our goal is to provide learning activities which require high levels of critical thinking and reasoning, accompanied by application of learning to real-world situations. Additionally, teachers will be focusing on specific skills in each of the content areas that are based on achievement data.  An emphasis on reading and writing skills will be evident in all content areas. Along with a strong academic program, there are many opportunities for our students to learn about music, technology, art, photography, and health and wellness. Our teachers are experienced and dedicated professionals who are committed to helping all students reach their full potential.
