Welcome to Mrs. Kane's Class!

Welcome!
Hello! My name is Mrs. Kane, and I’m proud to be a 5th-grade teacher at Slocum Skewes. I’ve been teaching for five years, working with both 4th and 5th grade. I earned my B.S. in Education from West Chester University and recently completed my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.

My Teaching Philosophy
Students learn best when they feel safe, respected, and encouraged. In our classroom, we focus on teamwork, goal-setting, and celebrating each student’s strengths. My goal is to create a positive, engaging environment where students build confidence and develop a love of learning.

Why I Love 5th Grade
Fifth grade is such an exciting year! Students are becoming more independent while staying curious and creative. I enjoy preparing them for middle school and helping them reach their full potential.

Fun Facts
Outside of school, I enjoy gardening, singing, and spending time with my pets (two dogs and a cat). I also practiced and taught karate for many years!
