Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies

Welcome to 8th Grade Social Studies!

I am an 8th grade social studies teacher with a passion for helping students connect the past to the present.

In my classroom we focus on American History, and Civics.

I have been teaching in Ridgefield for 17 years.  I started out as a Substitute covering all grades, then worked as 6th grade social studies teacher for 14 years before moving into the 8th grade.  In my early career I taught Kindergarten, First & Second Grade in private schools for 5 years, before having my children.

I attended William Paterson College and have a BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Sociology.  I also hold a Social Studies Highly Qualified Middle School Certificate.

My goal is to create a classroom where curiosity drives learning and every student feels empowered to think critically about history, government, and their role in shaping the future. I strive to make lessons engaging through discussion, projects, and real-world connections that spark interest and inspire lifelong learning.

Beyond the classroom, I enjoy going to Disney World, Boating, traveling, reading, cooking & spending time with my family, which sometimes  finds its way into my teaching as I encourage students to see history as a living story.

I am a resident of Ridgefield and raised my family here.  Both of my children when through the Ridgefield School System from K-12.   My son went onto graduate college, and is not working as an IT engineer for an office furniture company, and my daughter just recently finished grad school, and is working as an Occupational Therapist.  My husband and I have been active members of the community serving on the fire department, recreation department, PTA, and Music Parent Association.

I am always happy to make myself available for extra help, questions or concerns.
