5th Grade Teacher, Math and Science, Slocum Skewes School
Hello! My name is Ms. Mendoza, and I’m proud to be a 5th grade teacher here at
Slocum Skewes School. Currently, I am teaching Math and Science, and I happen to love both of these subjects! I have also been President of the elementary district PTA for the last 12 years, and we have succeeded in helping our schools provide additional resources for our students.
I’ve been teaching for 15 years, and I remain as passionate today about helping young learners grow as I was on my first day in the classroom.
I earned my B.A. from Rutgers University, where I double majored in Education and Child Psychology. I hold a K–8 Teaching Certificate.

My teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive, hands-on learning environment where all students feel valued, confident, and capable of achieving success.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family—especially in the outdoors! I also enjoy many types of music, dance, reading, and learning.
