Elementary and Middle School Band Director, Slocum Skewes School
Hello! My name is Dave Crum, and I’m proud to be the band director here at
Slocum Skewes School. I’ve been teaching for 25 years, and from the very beginning of my teaching journey, nurturing young students through music has been a constant source of joy—and that enthusiasm continues to inspire me every day in the classroom and on stage.
I earned my B.A. in Music Education and M.A. in Jazz Performance from New Jersey City
University. I also hold a K–8 Teaching Certificate. As an elementary instrumental music teacher, my teaching philosophy is rooted in creating a positive, engaging, and hands-on learning environment where every young musician feels encouraged, valued, and confident in their ability to grow and succeed.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family and creating/producing music at my home studio and on stages across the East Coast.
