Ms. Alessandra Brivio
8th Grade Math Teacher - Slocum Skewes School
Hello! My name is Ms. Brivio, and I am honored to be part of Slocum’s math department. I have been teaching middle school math for over 10 years, this being my 6th year at Slocum Skewes School.
Before completing my Teacher Certificate K-8 with specialization in math at Rutgers University, I earned a BA in Industrial Engineering at the University of Lima, Peru. I worked in that field for a few years before moving to the US to pursue my love for teaching and education.
I am passionate about Mathematics and how it teaches us to think logically and to make connections. Math helps us better understand the world we live in and make sense of the information we encounter every day. For example, when we join a conversation about climate change, our mathematical knowledge can help us recognize patterns, compare data, and understand concepts such as scale or probability. Because of this, we can think critically, draw our own conclusions, and have informed opinions.
My hobbies include spending time with my family, going to the beach, and taking nature hikes with our dog Luna.
