Supervisor of Instruction-Annabelle Gonzalez
A little about myself, this is the start of my 28th year in Special Education. My background includes both public and private state-approved special education school settings in a variety of roles. I began my special education journey as a classroom paraprofessional, a lead teacher in a special education classroom, a supervisor and an acting principal at a special needs school.
After many years working with students ages 4-21, I pursued my Master’s in Educational Administration and began my leadership journey. I am board certified in Special Education through NASET, National Association of Special Education Teachers and serve on the advisory board.
My training includes; NHA-Nurtured Heart Approach, Reflective Supervision, CPI- Crisis Prevention Intervention and HWC-Handle with Care; verbal de-escalation and non-violent physical intervention.
I am passionate about supporting children, adults and families and bring knowledge and experiences as both a special education professional and a parent of two children with special needs.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in English Literature, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and board certification in Special Education through NASET; National Associate of Special Education Teachers. I currently hold multiple teaching/supervisory licenses in New Jersey and Arizona.
I look forward to making every effort to help your child reach his/her fullest potential together with the staff and administration at Slocum Skewes!
